What I’m enjoying…

Some friends from my small group and I started a book club. It’s called “Mama Just Wants to Read” haha. Our first book was Powerless by Lauren Roberts, which I enjoyed! The hosts of Pod Meets World also recently started a book club where they discuss books in a classroom format that would make Mr. Feeny proud. In Roll Call, they discuss general thoughts, then they go To The Board to consider major themes, have a Pop Quiz answering a question or playing a game related to the book, and then give out a Report Card where they give it a final grade. Their first book was Blob by Maggie Su, which I also read.

I’m trying to figure out a way to incorporate their format into my podcast, but converting their four sections into 11 points is making my brain hurt. I will tell you, though, my rating for Powerless was 4 moons! The pacing was kind of slow, and it definitely took a lot of ideas from other YA novels, but it ultimately hooked me. I love the characters and want to continue in the series as it unfolds! Blob, however, got only 3 moons. It was an interesting premise, but very, very weird, and I honestly couldn’t tell you anything about the major themes until Pod Meets World discussed it, haha.
