What I’m enjoying…

The past few books I’ve read have been okay, but I’ve seen some amazing movies lately, so let’s talk about that!

Colton and I recently had a Jurassic Park marathon since I hadn’t seen them all. We watched the original trilogy one day and the new Jurassic World trilogy the next day. As a whole, it was one of the highest-rated series I’ve ever seen (according to my own personal scoring). I gave all six movies over 4 moons, except Dominion, which got 3.75, but that’s pretty close (I rate by moons on Instagram instead of stars so I can incorporate quarters and halves, haha)! It was so fun to watch, rarely had lulls, and didn’t feel repetitive even when watching six movies in a row about people running from dinosaurs. I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here because I’m kind of late to this train, but just wanted to hype them up a bit.

I also watched IF with my kiddos, and wow. I had been wanting to watch it since the Office Ladies interviewed John Krasinski about it. He said he wrote it during COVID after watching how his daughters coped with their grief and trauma through imaginary play. Pretend play is pivotal for children as they learn and grow, and this movie beautifully and comically shows how it can help kids work through big adult problems that they may be dealing with, too. I definitely cried at the end, and Calvin (my son, not the character from the movie, ha!) patted my arm and said, “It’s okay, Mama,” which did NOT ease my tears at all! But it was a really special movie to experience with my boys, and Cal has wanted to watch it a few more times since, calling it “Blue Movie,” and I find new things to enjoy with each rewatch. Highly recommend.

What I’m working on…
